The preferred teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL) in Middle School or High School will have experience in backward design planning based on desired results or learning outcomes, best practice language learning methodologies, including instructional strategies designed for English language learners, and formative and summative assessment. S/he will empower learners to be active, inquiring leaders of their own learning through essential and guiding questions and student-centered learning. Our curriculum promotes an interdisciplinary approach by grounding language learning in content from the Natural and Social Sciences and developing useful real-world competencies.
